About Alcohol & Drugs Action
Alcohol & Drugs Action (ADA) is a registered Scottish charity and company limited by guarantee with the remit to provide advice, information and targeted interventions on all alcohol and drug-related issues in Aberdeen city and shire.
Since our formation in 1986, ADA has made a significant contribution to the development and delivery of services to alcohol and drug users, their friends and families in the area. This includes those affected by alcohol, illicit drugs, over the counter drugs, prescribed medicine, and increasingly the widely available range of drugs that are sold via the internet. ADA also delivers training at local and national levels and is regularly invited to present at conferences and contribute to national working groups.

Our mission is to minimise the negative impact of alcohol and drug use on individuals, families and communities in the North East of Scotland by providing client-led, evidence-based and high-quality interventions.
Our core values
Putting people first
We ensure that the services we develop and provide are always led by the needs and aspirations of each individual.
Treating all with dignity, compassion, respect and empathy
We believe that irrespective of background, gender, sexuality, race, class or behaviour everyone has the right to be treated with dignity and respect.
Embracing positive change
We encourage and support positive change, both at an individual and service level.
We believe that working in partnership with individuals, their families, other service providers and stakeholders is essential if we are to achieve the best outcomes for communities as a whole.
Pursuing excellence and innovation
We set high standards for our team, where ongoing learning and critical thinking is encouraged to ensure our responses to the changing alcohol and drug scenes are relevant. We aim to work within best-practice guidelines to ensure that our services are efficient and effective for those who use them.
We uphold high standards of ethical practice that are monitored and maintained through our in-house supervision and appraisal scheme, in addition to our clear governance and management structures.
We recognise that, as a charity, we have a responsibility to ensure all funds and resources received by us are spent wisely, ensuring best value for money.
